2nd gen f bodies are one of gm’s first tries at unibody cars, they have such bad chassis rigidity that you stand the chance of denting the roof from body flex (especially with T top cars) if you don’t install subframe connectors, which essentially tie the front and back of the car together with a traditional frame.
That’s why they never made a convertible either.
